These images on canvas of sensuous women and men represent works from 2005 - 2007. Szurants metaphoric soul searching images are bold and provocative combined with a deep sense of feminine sensitivity. The imagery of man and women in simple stylized brushstrokes will grab you and occupy your mind.

 

 

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Born in Poland but raised in New York, my artwork often expresses the uncertainty and constant change of modern life. The need to express through art was always in my blood. I am inspired by the communication process art affords us. Creating art and manifesting ideas from nothing is an important quality for me to communicate.

As a Polish-American artist living in New York, my artwork expresses the contemporary times and understanding of the 21 st century. My work is a practice that expresses the challenging process of captivating the internal and the external working materials and the courage to personally evolve.

Painting provides me the opportunity to find my artistic style. Simple styled brushstrokes and exuberant use of color powerfully communicate my emotions. Each project is a new experience between the figurative environment and the abstract metaphoric soul searching.

Sometimes, I search for the next composition found in persistent objects. There are times, I revive my previous work with a new vision aspiring to new prospective. Inspired by different dimensions of form and esthetic possibility with untraditional material. The final product is an objective reality of the internal process that took place.

I find it important to continue communicating through creating artwork. I believe artwork has a powerful healing effect both for the creator and for the viewer. Artistic expression is a powerful process of human growth and development. It gives me a deeper understanding and appreciation of life and allows me to become a better person.
